iELF began in response to growing student and faculty needs on our campus, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. We quickly realized that the demand for advanced level resources on academic English is not just localized to our campus. These resources are sought out by international students and scholars studying at other U.S. institutions and ESL learners all over the world.

We realize that creating a comprehensive online resource center for advanced academic English is a BIG task. We are are up to the challenge, but we are also building collaboration with other individuals, TESL programs, and institutions around the world. Our hope is that iELF will develop into an inter-instituional endeavor. Below are some ways you can get involved.

We are looking for contributions for materials to be published on the iELF website. Anyone is welcome to submit materials, but we are especially interested in contributions from teaching professionals and teachers in training. All materials will be reviewed by a board of professionals and specialists; all materials will be credited to the author and remain the intellectual property of the author. The materials will be licensed under Creative Commons.

We are looking for TESL professionals and specialists to serve on area content boards and offer their expert opinions on the materials submitted. We are looking for experts in reading, writing, listening, speaking, pronunciation, EAP, ESP, and academic culture. If you are an expert in another area of ESL, please contact us as well.
